Rewriting Yesterday’s Rhythm

Every March, our school comes alive with energy as we commemorate High School Day, a time when Junior High and Senior High School students compete in a spirited dance competition. This year, the 123rd celebration was no different. The entire month leading up to the event was filled with intense preparations, from choreographing routines to making props, all while juggling our regular classes. With practices eating up class hours, balancing academics and rehearsals was a challenge, but in the end, performing with our grade level made everything worth it.

The day began with a grand parade, where each determined sections aimed to win the "Most Disciplined Section Award." We marched with enthusiasm, keeping discipline in mind, but unfortunately, we didn’t win. Then came the highlight of the event—the dance competition. We gave it our all, moving in sync with the music, hoping to gain victory. But despite our best efforts, we did not place as we had hoped for. Still, the experience of performing together, feeling the crowd's energy, and seeing months of hard work pay off was rewarding in itself.

After the competition, we roamed around the school, exploring the various booths set up by different clubs. Each booth had something unique to offer, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the celebration. However, amidst all the excitement, I couldn’t help but notice the aftermath—scattered trash left behind as students moved from one activity to another. It was a reminder that while celebrations bring joy, they also come with responsibilities that we sometimes overlook.

Before heading home, I caught glimpses of the "Battle of the Bands," but I wasn’t able to stay long enough to see who won. Still, even with the exhaustion from all the activities, the day left a lasting impression.

The yearly celebration of High School Day holds great significance for ISNHS. It is more than just a celebration, it is a tribute to the school’s legacy, a reminder of how far it has come, and a celebration of the students and teachers who keep its spirit alive. It fosters camaraderie, unity, and school pride, allowing us to create memories that we will carry beyond our years in school. Through events like this, we are reminded that ISNHS is not just an institution—it is a community that continues to grow, learn, and celebrate together.
